Ngorongoro Crater

Depart from Moshi or Arusha | End in Moshi or Arusha

Depart Arusha very early in morning with your private guide and drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation area. Today we will be rewarded with a visit to the stunning Ngorongoro Crater, which became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. Optional we will visit a Maasai Village depending on availability of time, where we learn about the life and beliefs of Tanzania’s nomadic people.

The Ngorongoro Crater, is famous for Africa’s best game viewing as there is an ever present abundance of wildlife due to the permanent water supply on the crater floor. Upon arrival at the Crater’s rim we descend 610 meters into the Crater where our safari begins. Spot the endangered black rhino, black maned lions, giant tusked elephants, zebra, buffalo and wildebeest. Along the shores of Soda Lake we will find many species of birds including flamingos. All these animals in turn support large predators such as lion and leopard, and scavengers such as hyena and jackals.

We enjoy a delicious picnic lunch and continue our search for the elusive Big 5. After plenty of time to observe the wildlife, we will return to Moshi or Arusha where our safari ends.
